Outfit Breakdown-Mom Basics

A Non-Maternity, Maternity look.

Ever since I had my first daughter, 8.5 years ago, I quickly learned what basics I needed as a mom.

Since learning about those basics now when I go shopping, I look for certain things to “add” to my wardrobe. Silks and wool are typically not part of this equation. Read below to find out how I break down this easy, simple, and comfortable Non- Maternity, Maternity look here.

PS: I have found with my bump-tieing a shirt around my waist helps to define the bump and provides an effortless look.

Long Layer-able tanks that last – By last I mean, don’t pill and can be worn for multiple seasons without needed to be replaced. I look for quality material.  My favorite tanks are found here or here.

Comfortable bottoms – elastic waist/stretchy everything has been key for me during the child bearing years. My weight is fluctuating and comfort when bending down, squatting, crawling etc has proven super important. Leggings, Ruched Skirts, Elastic Banded shorts, and stretchy comfortable jeans. Shorts found here.

Lightweight layers –  they may be a shirt, jacket, or cardigan but having that extra layer really makes a difference in your outfit as an extra piece to style and for pure warmth factor! My favorite brand for lightweight layers.

Low heeled sandals or booties – I love a shoe that offers a small height while still being comfortable for me to manage to run and climb when needed. The lower heel shoe is slighter dressier than a flat and I appreciate the leg lengthening affect! These sandals come in different colors and so comfortable.

Simple AccessoriesNecklace, a simple black choker with gold fringe (can be worn as a wrap bracelet too) and Aviator lenses are a classic must have for your sunglass wardrobe!

Thanks so much for reading, what are some of your favorite mom basics??
